These are stones with saturated and intense colors—blues, greens, pinks, canary yellows—that are valued according to different criteria, and their price increases with the purity and vibrancy of their hues. These pieces are extraordinarily rare in nature, although lab-grown diamonds have opened up the possibility of obtaining them with greater accessibility and color consistency.

For a buyer seeking the perfect balance between visual quality and budget, the G-H range is often the sweet spot: stones with a virtually colorless appearance at a significantly lower price than D-F diamonds.

Clarity is the "C" most related to a stone's geological history.   • VS1 / VS2 (Very Slightly Included): Small inclusions, visible with a loupe but difficult to see with the naked eye. Excellent quality-price balance.
  • SI1 / SI2 (Slightly Included): Inclusions visible with a loupe and, in some cases, with the naked eye in SI2. Still considered good quality for many applications.
  • I1 / I2 / I3 (Included): Inclusions visible to the naked eye that can affect brilliance and, in extreme cases, the stone's structural integrity.

It is essential to understand that most inclusions in VS category diamonds or higher are invisible to the naked eye, meaning that in practical and aesthetic terms, the difference between a VS2 and an IF is imperceptible without specialized equipment. This has direct implications for the price: a VS2 diamond can offer a flawless visual appearance at a fraction of the cost of an FL diamond.

In the case of lab-grown diamonds, clarity is a particularly interesting factor, as the controlled synthesis process allows for the production of stones with much higher purity levels than typically found in mined diamonds, democratizing access to clarity grades previously reserved for very high budgets.

The most common mistake is to assume that the price of a diamond scales proportionally to its weight. It doesn't work that way. The price per carat increases exponentially as the stone gains weight, because in nature, large stones are disproportionately rarer than small ones. To illustrate: a 1.5-carat diamond does not cost three times as much as a 0.5-carat diamond; it can cost between five and seven times more, depending on the other three Cs.

It is also important not to confuse the carat of diamonds with the carat of gold. They are completely different units: in the case of the metal, carat expresses the purity of the alloy, not the weight. These are unrelated concepts, even though they share the same name.
